Why are breaks from sitting so important?

Did you know In as little as 30 minutes of sitting, metabolic processes begin to deteriorate which include: increased blood pressure, increased blood sugars, and increased cholesterol levels.

The good news is a small one minute break can reverse this!

Here is an easy one minute break you can do to reverse metabolic breakdown and the diminished health it brings with it.

Perform arm curls by sitting up straight and hold a book, or water bottle or other weighted object. Keep your arms down by your sides and hold the object in your hand. Bend your arm at the elbow to lift the object towards your shoulder and then lower it. Do ten repetitions. Repeat three times with each arm.

This and other upper extremity one minute breaks can be found in Chapter 10 of my book Health at Your Desk.
